Action Care: Past and Present
President & CEO of Action Care Ambulance, Allen J. Powers, was the previous owner and operator of Reed Ambulances, Inc. When Mr. Powers purchased Reed Ambulance in 1979, he had one ambulance on the street. When he sold Reed Ambulance in 1993, it was the largest provider of emergent and non-emergent medical services in the Rocky Mountain Region with a reputation of providing outstanding service to the community. Mr. Powers operated a fleet of 32 ambulances and 17 wheelchair vans. He managed a staff of over 200 Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics along with over 50 supportive staff members. His company responded to over 55,000 calls per year. His former company maintained contracts with a multitude of fire agencies, hospitals and long-term care facilities, along with numerous special event coverages. Mr. Powers years of service and dedication to the community was honored in 1991 when he received the Community Service Award from the American Ambulance Association. He is a member of many boards and committees in the Denver area.

Before making the decision to start a new ambulance service, Mr. Powers took time to meet with many fire and police officials, hospital administrators, and skilled/extended nursing facilities across the metro area. The response was overwhelming and the support he received convinced him that it was time to become actively involved again. Along with Mr. Powers, a select team of experienced personnel that were with Reed came back to become actively involved with the start up and management of Action Care Ambulance. This team has over 100 years of combined healthcare and ambulance experience and the commitment to quality service and superior patient care remains the same.

Mr. Powers and his administrative team started Action Care Ambulance in March 2000 with 2 ambulances and 1 wheelchair van. Action Care has grown over the years and today our fleet includes 15 ambulances , 3 wheelchair vans, a quick response command vehicle, a supply/support van, and a Mobile Response Team.
